World UFO Day (Full Form For UFO is Unidentified Flying Objects): The roots of this observance can be traced back to June 24, when aviator Kenneth Arnold reported a UFO sighting, which is widely considered the first extensively documented encounter of its kind in the United States. The renowned Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting took place in 1947, capturing the public’s attention.

Arnold described witnessing a formation of nine luminous unidentified flying objects zipping past Mount Rainier. He estimated their speed to be at least 1,200 miles per hour, leaving an indelible mark on UFO lore.

The essence of the July 2 celebrations revolves around raising awareness about the existence of UFOs and urging governments to disclose their classified records on UFO sightings. This date is significant due to the infamous Roswell incident of 1947, when it was believed that a UFO had crashed in Roswell, New Mexico.

According to official reports, the United States Army Air Forces retrieved debris from a balloon near Corona, New Mexico. However, conspiracy theories emerged suggesting that the debris was, in fact, from a crashed flying saucer, and that the US government concealed the truth.

In an effort to promote awareness of UFO existence and the potential presence of intelligent beings from outer space, the World UFO Day Organization (WUFODO) dedicated July 2 as an annual celebration.

Recent times have seen a surge in UFO reports, particularly in the past two decades. In May of this year, during a public hearing on UFOs—the first of its kind in 50 years—a senior US defense official informed lawmakers about an increasing number of unidentified flying objects documented in the sky.

Scott Bray, deputy director of Naval Intelligence, attributed this rise to efforts by the US military to destigmatize reporting sightings and encounters, along with advancements in technology. However, Bray clarified that there was no evidence to suggest that these phenomena were of non-terrestrial origin.

Moreover, NASA has embarked on a serious study of UFOs. In June, the agency announced a project that will involve leading scientists examining unidentified aerial phenomena. The study, set to commence in the coming fall and last approximately nine months, aims to analyze existing data, explore methods for gathering additional data, and leverage NASA’s expertise to advance scientific understanding.

Daniel Evans, the NASA scientist coordinating the study, emphasized that over the years, NASA has confronted perplexing mysteries, and this initiative reflects their ongoing commitment to unraveling the unknown.

World UFO Day serves as a reminder of the enduring fascination surrounding UFOs, inviting individuals from all walks of life to ponder the mysteries that lie beyond our atmosphere. As we continue to explore the skies, the search for answers regarding unidentified flying objects remains an ongoing quest for knowledge.
