Karnataka Lecturer

The Karnataka Department of Pre-University Education has taken action after a Kannada lecturer at a pre-university college in Malleswaram made a social media post that allegedly mocked the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The lecturer in question, Hulikunte Murthy, who is also a Dalit activist, expressed his skepticism about the mission’s success in a Kannada tweet. The post contained the phrase “Tirupati nama,” implying that the moon mission would fail once again.

In response to the post, the deputy director of PU (Bengaluru North) stated that they noticed Murthy’s social media activity on Monday and decided to seek clarification from him. The lecturer has been asked to provide an explanation for his message, and he is expected to submit his reply on Wednesday. Based on his response, appropriate action will be taken.

Former education minister and BJP leader S Suresh Kumar expressed concern over the lecturer’s behavior and wrote a letter to the newly appointed School Education Minister, Madhu Bangarappa. In the letter, Kumar questioned how a person with such views could motivate students and requested clarification regarding the lecturer’s conduct. He also cautioned Murthy against repeating such irresponsible behavior in the future.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched last Friday following the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which aimed to achieve a soft landing on the moon’s surface. If successful, Chandrayaan-3 will mark India as the fourth country to accomplish a soft landing on the lunar surface, joining the ranks of the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union. The Union Minister stated that India’s advancements in space technology through the Chandrayaan missions have solidified its position as a leading global player in the space sector.
